Fort Scott is nestled in the rolling hills of the "Little Ozarks" in Southeast Kansas, approximately
85 miles south of Kansas City on US highway 69.
Fort Scott is less than a 2 hour drive due south from Kansas City and less than an hour from Joplin, Missouri. Depending on your speed and stops, Fort Scott is about a 3 hour drive from Branson and Springfield, Missouri or Topeka and Wichita, Kansas. Fort Scott Municipal Airport, located about 4 miles from the city, features a 4500 foot paved runway at 918 feet elevation and is fully IFR.
