Johnny Kendrick

Johnny Kendrick lives near Richards, Mo., and is an accomplished songwriter, cowboy singer, and musician. He has released a CD of very old, authentic music as it was sung on the trail by cowboys around campfires or riding the night herds. He is committed to preserving the memory of the American Cowboy and paints a colorful picture of times gone by when he closes his eyes and wails out a haunting refrain about the coyotes and other "Echoes of the Trail" in his song by that name.

Johnny was one of the founders of the Fort Scott Jubilee and the Echoes of the Trail Cowboy Gathering. He performed in Branson in the past, and is a past editor of the Fort Scott Tribune. Presently, he teaches college courses and manages an after-school program at the Middle School. He is featured on the cowboypoetry.com web site, where you can purchase his CD.

Johnny's sons Sam and Jackson are "chips off the ol' block" when it comes to musical talent, and last year they joined him on stage. They were so well received, the Echoes of the Trail steering committee asked them back this year.
