Jay Jones
Jay Jones is a member of the Missouri Cowboy Poets Association and serves as editor of their newsletter. As a young man, Jay competed in amateur rodeos as a bull rider and calf roper, and recalls many of these experiences in his poetry.
His work has been honored as the "Lariat Laureate" and two "8 Seconds" recognitions on the world's largest Internet cowboy poetry web site, www.cowboypoetry.com. Jay's work also was included in The Big Roundup, a cowboypoetry.com anthology of the top 130 cowboy poems ever written. His poetry also has been included in Rope Burns, American Cowboy Magazine, and The Oregon English Journal.
Jay wrote a poem for Miss Rodeo Wyoming, Amy Joe Hubbard, for her Miss Rodeo American competition.
Jones has performed in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, and the Western Legends Rodeo in Kanab, Utah. He is a school teacher who resides in Columbia, Mo.
