Del Shields

Talk to cowboys who have heard Del Shields sing or speak his original work in rhyme, and they will tell you, "he's been there." Upon hearing him yourself, you realize the Cowboy breed is still alive and well. Delbert has been referred to by some as "the cowboy with the velvet voice."

This cowboy's singing and poetry career is full speed ahead. Del appears frequently on RFD-TV on a program called "Best of America by Horseback" (BOABH). He also appears live most Monday nights on "World Talk Radio" on the Best of America by Horseback radio show. In addition to these appearances Del travels nationally doing shows at various venues. His motto is, "come as you are, prepare to go away a little bit western." Audiences everywhere will attest to this matter having left Delbert's performance feeling as if they had heard the cattle bawling and seen the amber setting sun.

With years of rodeo bareback riding experience, Del is able to sing the ballads of the rodeo life with true emotion. Del has years of horse training experience under his hat, and is a farrier by trade. Ranching is branded into his heart and soul, and spills out through his music and poetry.

How better to keep the cowboy spirit alive than to educate our children? Del does so as he visits schools as often as possible to share his knowledge and skills with young people.

Del was honored to be part of a live Christmas show for the troops at Fort Riley, Kansas, last November, along with several other great entertainers featured by BOABH. The show aired on television in 120 Countries and 28 major United State Cities as well as Nationally on RFD-TV.

"A Little Bit Western" is the title of Del's first CD and has received great reviews. "Listen Close" from that CD reached #2 on the Western Music Song Chart!

He is featured in the "Pick of the West" section of the Cascade Horse Magazine, and Oregon publication.

Del receives a great deal of support from his wife: Shevawn, three grown children: Emily, Kimberly, and Dustin (DJ), and two step-children: Hunter and Bryce. Delbert says his greatest accomplishments in life are being a child of God and a father.
